The Cleveland Guardians reached the All-Star break with some momentum.
Their offense showed signs of life after some dreadful outings in June.
Though fans might not be that confident about this team, the fact of the matter is that they’re still in the race for an AL Wild Card.
With that in mind, Carlos Baerga talked about their chances of reaching the playoffs.
“It’s up to us. We [have to] start doing the little things. The biggest thing is our pitching staff that gives us the opportunity to be in the game. Each game in the last 10 games, we’ve been there. Our offense started scoring some runs, doing the little things. We need to keep doing that,” Baerga said.

The Guardians have plenty of talent, and the fact that they’re still in the mix after a horrible month speaks volumes about what they can do when they’re at their best.
Of course, it would be better if the front office added the type of players they need to get back on track, especially given their offensive woes.
But maybe the answer is right in front of them.
C.J. Kayfus is dominating at Triple-A, and if they don’t want to risk injury-prone prospect Chase DeLauter by calling him up, perhaps they will give Kayfus a chance.
It’s too early to give up on the season, and if ace Shane Bieber returns soon, the Guardians could be a dark horse to make the postseason.
