The Cleveland Guardians have struggled to find much momentum this season.
As such, they’re more than likely to move several pieces at the trade deadline.
As things stand now, only Jose Ramirez seems to be safe, although reports state that the front office has also let the rest of the league know that Cade Smith and Emmanuel Clase are also off the table.
It might also take a lot for them to trade All-Star OF Steven Kwan.
With that in mind, other teams might set their sights on utility man Daniel Schneemann, who’s been one of the few bright spots for Stephen Vogt’s team this season.
According to a report by Guardians insider Paul Hoynes, the team has gotten some calls about Schneemann:
“A couple teams have kicked the tires on Schneemann,” Hoynes shared. “Kind of a valuable, multi-position guy. Got a little pop. He’s been a solid contributor this year.”
Schneeman is hitting .215 for the season.
He’s logged 46 hits, nine home runs, six stolen bases, and 27 runs scored over 77 games this season.
Versatility is one of the best abilities, and Schneemann can play in multiple positions and do a little bit of everything.
While not a superstar, he’s the kind of Swiss army knife type of player that contending teams usually covet, especially in the second half of the season.
The Guardians aren’t that far behind in the race for a Wild Card spot, and it would be better to watch the team either stay put or add more firepower to the lineup with a big trade.
But since that’s not likely to happen, Daniel Schneemann and others may have already played their last game for the Guardians.
