The Cleveland Guardians quickly reunited with a familiar face.
As shown by Guardians Prospective on X, Kolby Allard is back with the organization.
The Guardians re-signed the pitcher to a minor league contract and selected him to their major league roster.
Days ago, Allard elected to become a free agent after being designated for assignment.
The Guardians optioned left-hander Tim Herrin to Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move.

The Guardians added Allard to the 40-man roster in late April.
He spent the bulk of his time with the team as a long reliever, logging 35.1 innings in 16 appearances and posting a 2.55 ERA.
Unfortunately, he also had one of the lowest strikeout rates in the majors (10.5%), which is why that ERA didn’t look to be sustainable over time.
Even so, the Guardians needed another arm for their heavily taxed bullpen.
As for Herrin, the decision to option him was somewhat surprising.
He had a 2.99 ERA with a 26.5% strikeout rate over the 2023 and 2024 seasons, also recording 17 holds during that span.
Though his 3.99 ERA this season wasn’t as impressive, he still looked like someone who could contribute going forward.
The Guardians gained some momentum after sweeping the Houston Astros for the first time in nearly a decade, and they need all hands on deck to make a strong push for the final AL Wild Card spot.
