The Cleveland Guardians need to figure out what to do with their roster.
They’re not playing at a high level right now, and while their strong start to the season was promising, it looks like this isn’t even the same team.
That’s why all signs point to this team parting ways with some of their big-name players.
At least, that’s how Jack O’Rourke feels.
Talking on the “Carlos Baerga Show,” the renowned analyst claimed that it might be time to come to terms with the idea that the Guardians aren’t a contending team.
As such, it’s time to move on from some of the players and maybe give the young ones a look:
“I’m a little bit worried now. Three months into the year, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s probably going to be a duck. Through three months of baseball, it’s looking like we’re a duck. We’re right around .500, so you’ve got to make a change somewhere. That’s probably going to start with Chase DeLauter,” O’Rourke said.
Should the Guardians sell hard at the deadline as the losing streak hits ten games? #GuardsBall

Chase DeLauter was supposed to make the roster this season, but yet another injury put the brakes on that.
Now, he’s been crushing it at Triple-A Columbus when healthy, and given his potential and all the hype around him, perhaps calling him up would be the only way to salvage the season in the eyes of some fans.
The Guardians have never been the kind of team that will aggressively pursue a star at the trade deadline, not even when they have a contending team.
So, now that they’re floating around .500 and can’t seem to score a run to save their lives, it’s hard to believe that they will even consider making a big move.
Perhaps the savior is already a part of the organization, and even if this season is already down the drain, giving DeLauter a chance will certainly help boost his development.
