The Cleveland Guardians lost their sixth straight game, the latest to the Chicago Cubs.
Their offense mustered only four runs in another lackluster performance.
Cleveland’s offense is dragging the team down, and if the Guardians don’t do something, a postseason berth could be out of reach soon.
They are falling fast and in need of a spark.
That spark is on their Triple-A roster, and his name is Chase DeLauter.
Every person who follows the Guardians’ farm system knows that DeLauter, even if he can’t be asked to save their season, has a chance to offer a solution for their current right field problem.
MLB analyst and former Guardians pitcher Jensen Lewis sounded pessimistic when analyzing the situation, though.
He said that there is no player in the Guardians’ current outfield outside of Steven Kwan that should keep DeLauter from getting regular at-bats.
But Lewis has no clue when DeLauter will be called up, even if he thinks it should be before the All-Star Break.
“I don’t see any signs in which that will happen,” Lewis said, via the BIGPLAY Cleveland Show.

Like fans, Lewis suggested he is puzzled by the Guardians’ lack of urgency in calling up a potential difference-maker.
DeLauter recently returned from a serious injury that required surgery, yes, but he is showing that he can handle a weekly workload.
He has been excellent against lefties this year (one of his perceived weaknesses), with a 1.170 OPS in 37 plate appearances.
In other words, he has nothing more to prove in Triple-A, and a call-up is, as Lewis says, long overdue.
