The Cleveland Guardians need as much help as they can get right now.
They’re not the kind of team that usually takes a lot of risks or moves on from its prospects to make win-now moves.
So, with the trade deadline looming and the Guardians most likely to be a seller rather than a buyer, the door seems wide open for Chase DeLauter to make his long-awaited MLB debut.
Asked about that, the superstar prospect admitted that he’s ready to prove his worth.
“I think it’s exciting. I think fans should be excited. I’m ready to be there. I’m ready to play. I’m glad that they are ready for me, too,” DeLauter said, via Camryn Justice.

DeLauter has been tearing it up in the minors.
He was always expected to make his way to the big leagues at some point this season, but injuries altered those plans.
Now, the Guardians have a big need for help in the outfield, and DeLauter can definitely hit.
Of course, banking their hopes in a first-year player might not only be unrealistic, but simply not wise.
But depending on how the Guardians address the rest of this season, the table will be set for DeLauter to develop without any added pressure.
Durability has been his only question mark since he joined the organization.
But if he manages to stay on the field, he could be one of the most entertaining players to watch for years to come.
