The Cleveland Guardians’ offense continues to struggle in June.
The unit has been a bottom-ten group all year, but this month has been, quite easily, the worst yet.
Cleveland hitters are sporting an MLB-worst 70 wRC+ since June 1.
Maybe the most embarrassing fact about this group is that it has been shut out in consecutive games: on Thursday vs. the Toronto Blue Jays, and Friday during the series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Do you want some more sad facts about the Guardians’ hitters? They have managed just three hits in the last two games.
Three.
“The Guardians’ offense in the last 2 games: 3-for-57, 0 R, 2 BB, 18 K, 0-for-7 with RISP. Yikes,” Just Baseball posted on X.

Yikes, indeed.
On Friday, Sonny Gray limited the Guards to just one hit.
That was it: not even a walk, and 11 strikeouts as the cherry on top.
It’s hard to win baseball games like that.
Cleveland couldn’t have Jose Ramirez, their best hitter and player, in the lineup on Friday because of the hit by pitch he suffered on Thursday.
Gray proceeded to have a field day against the Ramirez-less Guardians’ lineup.
Even when Ramirez plays, he can’t do it all by himself.
It’s clear that he needs help, and no one is stepping up.
The 40-40 Guardians need significant offensive upgrades ahead of the deadline if they want to make it to the postseason again.
Some of them can be found in the trade market; others within their own minor league system.
Evidently, Cleveland has a lot of work to do if it wants to replicate last year’s success.
