Almost every year, the Cleveland Guardians are in contention to make the postseason.
And almost every year, fans expect the front office to acquire more (and better) players than they end up getting.
Fans expecting their decision-makers to do more is not unusual at all, even natural or normal.
It happens in almost every organization.
Some, however, might expect the players, particularly established stars, to apply a bit more pressure to the president of baseball operations and the general manager to get reinforcements that aid the quest for the trophy.
Jonathan Peterlin and Nick Wilson had this conversation about Jose Ramirez on Tuesday at 92.3 The Fan.
“I wish (Jose Ramirez) did go up to the front office and say, ‘I need you to do this,'” Peterlin said.

It’s a complex subject to analyze because, as Wilson says, Ramirez might not get mad at the front office’s perceived lack of activity.
Wilson explains that there is no evidence that Ramirez would actually get frustrated because the front office didn’t pursue improvements around the roster.
He might, but if that’s the case, it’s nearly impossible for the world to know.
In any case, while it would be cool for fans to feel that their star joins them in the sentiment that the decision-makers need to show more urgency, it’s not Ramirez’s job to put pressure on them, and he shouldn’t be criticized if he chooses not to do it.
After all, J-Ram might not be familiar with the team’s budget structure and economics.
For all we know, Ramirez and President of Baseball Operations Chris Antonetti have had this particular chat.
If that’s the case, however, they won’t be revealing the details of those conversations.
In this particular situation, it’s best to let the star of the team do his job, the one he is very good at.
