Cleveland Guardians trade acquisition Nolan Jones has mostly struggled in 2025.
Acquired in a spring trade that saw Tyler Freeman go to the Colorado Rockies, Jones is hitting .222/.310/.333 with just three home runs and an 85 wRC+ in 185 trips to the plate this season.
That’s below-average performance from the outfielder that once, two years ago to be exact, posted a 20-20 season with a 137 wRC+.
The year, however, is quite long and allows players to struggle and then find their footing.
This appears to be the case with Jones, who has been improving his play in recent weeks.
The numbers back that up.
“Cleveland #Guardians OF Nolan Jones over his last 15 games. 14-36, 4R, 1(2B), 1(3B), 1HR, 8RBI, 4BB. AVG .389, OBP .463, SLG .556, OPS 1.019,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

It took some time, but the Nolan Jones that the Guardians thought they acquired just before the season is finally here, or so it seems.
Of course, he will need to do it for longer than just 15 games, but the signs and the stats are there.
Ideally, the Guardians would need a bit more power from Jones, but they won’t complain about a 1.019 OPS over a 15-game stretch, especially considering the current state of the offense.
Right now, Cleveland is desperately looking for batters they can trust to consistently produce, and Jones could enter that list if he can sustain this over a longer period.
Given his current hot stretch and his sheer upside, it’s fair to say that bringing him over from the Rockies was a worthwhile gamble for Cleveland in the spring.
