The Cleveland Guardians have lost eight of their past 10 games, including a sweep by the Seattle Mariners.
The Guardians are no longer in possession of a postseason spot, and something must be done if they want to re-create some of last year’s magic.
The problem, however, runs deep.
Recent Guardians teams, even those that enjoyed postseason success in 2022 and 2024, weren’t known for their offense yet could score runs in a variety of ways.
The 2025 Guardians just can’t hit.
Outside of Jose Ramirez and, to a lesser extent, Carlos Santana and Steven Kwan, the team doesn’t have good hitters.
Most of the young players who started the year on the right foot have regressed: Angel Martinez, Gabriel Arias, and Kyle Manzardo to some extent.
Analyst Ryan Tyler recently pointed out that though the Guardians’ starting pitching has improved, the bats have declined considerably.
“It comes back to hitting as we all know,” Tyler said on “The Bruce Drennan Show.”
The Starting Pitching has improved, but the bats have SEVERLY declined. #GuardsBall

The Guardians’ offensive woes seem to have gotten worse in June.
In the past 15 days, Cleveland is next to last in runs scored and ranks 28th in wRC+.
Power is not the only issue, though, with an OBP that ranks 28th.
The Guardians aren’t doing anything at the plate right now, and the struggles are starting to reach concerning levels.
The organization has a lot of work to do to put together a competitive lineup.
